Freebitco.in Faucet Review (My Favorite Faucet!)

If you are familiar with crypto faucets, you’ve probably noticed how irritating the ads can be. Usually you have to put up with clicking or viewing ads, popunder ads, and time consuming link shorteners. All for a few satoshis.

The great thing about Freebitco.in is there are no ads to deal with. Just a basic captcha to prove you’re human and not a bot. Then simply click roll and receive anywhere from 20 satoshis to $200 in Bitcoin. (The lower prizes fluctuate based on the current price of Bitcoin, but the top amount is always $200 in Bitcoin.)

They have the best referral program I’ve seen from any faucet. You earn a commission not only from faucet claims, but also from any bets made by your referrals from a wide variety of everything from sports bets to betting on political events.

You also earn a free lottery ticket each time your referral makes a faucet claim. The lottery is weekly, and has $4500 in prizes each drawing.

That’s not all! You also earn a reward point each time your referral makes a claim. Reward points can be traded for prizes such as smartphones, tablets, hardware wallets(something every crypto enthusiast should own), and Bitcoin. Join here

If that isn’t enough to sell you on their referral program, you also earn a percentage of your referral’s interest account earnings. (All accounts with at least 30,000 Satoshis earn daily interest paid directly to their accounts.)

All these ways to earn from your referrals means that you can earn a significant profit without needing thousands of referrals. I’ve earned over a half a Bitcoin from just ONE of my referrals!

Is Bitcoin Anonymous?

image-300x225Short answer: No. Bitcoin is not anonymous, nor was that the intention of the creator (who, ironically, remains anonymous). Rather, Bitcoin is a pseudo-anonymous cryptocurrency.

While many Bitcoin veterans are aware of this, many others may be unaware why Bitcoin is not really anonymous by default, and what can be done to de-anonymize Bitcoin users. Let’s find out why Bitcoin is not really anonymous, and what Bitcoin users can do to reclaim their privacy.
                                        Why is Bitcoin not anonymous?
Simply put, there is a record of every Bitcoin transaction ever made. These transactions are available for all to see, in a public ledger known as “Block chain”. There is no identifying information tied directly to these transactions, which is why Bitcoin is considered “pseudo-anonymous”.
                                         Using Personal Identity
If a Bitcoin owner uses their personal identity in a Bitcoin transaction, such as on an exchange, this can also result in a loss of anonymity. For example, a delivery address for something ordered in an online store could connect the buyer’s name and home address to their Bitcoin. If any of the input addresses in the aforementioned Bitcoin transaction are tied to the buyer’s identity, all of the other addresses will be as well.
                                        The Transaction Ledger
Bitcoin transactions are open to all, which means that addresses can be traced. This allows for a group of different Bitcoin addresses to be tied to a particular user. If just one address is tied to an individual’s identity then the others in that group can also be tied to their identity.
A quick analogy: suppose a number of people in a large room wanted to exchange money and remain anonymous. They do this by all wearing masks! Are the participants anonymous? Well, sort of: no one can immediately tell who any individual is, although this arrangement allows anyone to observe how money changes hands. If anonymous Bob gave Jane a coin, Bob can monitor the blockchain (the transparent ledger of transactions) to trace the coin for its entire life span. Is this system anonymous? Only in a very limited sense.

How can Bitcoin users reclaim their privacy?
As progress is being made to improve Bitcoin anonymity on one hand, possible methods to de-anonymize users are often established on the other. And while it is beyond the scope of this article to explore all potential future possibilities to improve anonymity, there are some basic methods to increase privacy on the Bitcoin network available right now.
One possible solution is using TOR or other methods to hide IP addresses. If Bitcoin transactions are transmitted over TOR, there is no way to determine where they originated from (granted that TOR itself does as promised, of course. Which is why you should always combine TOR with a VPN.) This is a good time to mention you should be using a VPN if you are at all concerned about privacy, regardless of whether you use Bitcoin. Click Here for more about using a VPN to protect your privacy.

Another basic solution to increase privacy is creating a new address for each transaction. Creating a new address for each transaction makes it more difficult to link addresses to real identities. An increasing number of Bitcoin wallets do this automatically using hierarchical deterministic(HD) wallet software.

A slightly more advanced method to gain privacy is the use of mixers. Mixers exist in multiple shapes and forms, but they basically allow everyone using the mixer to receive each others’ Bitcoin. If done well, mixing counters the analysis of transaction networks as well as taint analysis. And for improved results, mixing can be repeated.

In the end, Bitcoin privacy is still a sliding scale – not a binary problem. Rather than being either completely anonymous or not at all, Bitcoin users enjoy a certain level of privacy, depending on how much of their identity they reveal, which of the anonymizing techniques they apply, how many, and how often.

3 Red Flags Of Cryptocurrency Scams

cryptocurrency-scam-1

There are many different kinds of cryptocurrency scams that are victimizing people who are new to the crypto world. Con artists prey on those who don’t know the difference between a legit crypto platform and a fake one, who don’t know a Ponzi scheme from a legitimate affiliate program. These scammers fool people into thinking that their well-designed websites give them a semblance of legitimacy, but on closer inspection, these sites won’t pass muster. Here are some giant red flags you should be aware of:

1 – Website Has No SSL Certificate

It’s very important for a website that deals with cryptocurrencies to have an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate installed. Websites with no SSL only display HTTP before their domain names and websites with SSL show HTTPS. Many scam websites are here today, gone tomorrow types of sites, which means once they’ve scammed a certain number of people, they’ll shut down that site and move on to a fresh domain. It’s quite easy to transfer website files from one domain to another; this is why these scammers can set up shop very quickly.

2 – The Offer Is Too Good To Be True

Whether you’re trying to get the best rates for your dollars or bitcoins, it’s only natural that you’d want the best possible deal. Since cryptocurrencies are decentralized, most crypto exchanges have their own exchange rates. However, these rates don’t vary by much. If you see a website offering rates that are significantly lower or higher than other established exchanges, then it’s a giant red flag. It’s better to do business with a trusted platform with higher fees than to try to get the best deal out of an unknown website that could possibly swindle you out of your entire fortune.

3 – Beware Of Ponzi Scams

Some Ponzi scams are not as obvious especially if they’ve been around for a few weeks or months. This is because their first members would already have received their profits (derived from payments by new recruits) and would be posting glowing reviews on the Internet. At first glance, you might be fooled into thinking it’s a legitimate crypto operation especially if you personally know someone who’s made money from the scheme. Check out those positive reviews, and you’ll see they’re basically saying the same thing. We’d even like to bet they would have their affiliate or referral links somewhere on the review.
